About Group 50:
Besides organizing a community forum on AI’s Stop Violence Against Women Campaign, during the past year Group 50 has sponsored a public forum on the U. S. and torture; has had information tables at various community events; marched in the Evanston 4 th of July Parade; and heard speakers on the human rights situation in Colombia, Syria and nations of central Africa. We worked to free a Syrian prisoner of conscience and learned the good news that he was freed last December. We regularly write letters to representatives of governments, protesting human rights violations in many parts of the world, and send messages of hope to prisoners of conscience.
